Sharing information with parents
As we have discussed on the How can we avoid recreating levels page, there is no consistency with the terminology we use and any attempt to give a new label - be that a 2Secure, a 3Developing or any other - is likely to recreate the culture so intrinsically linked to the old levels.
What is more useful, and therefore one of the reasons that levels were removed, is to share the achievements and learning gaps for children with their parent(s) as often as may be appropriate. Of course there will be end of year reports. You may, also, wish to share interim reports. Our new Assessment Summaries can be used for this and also our updates to the Online Reporting to Parents functionality.
A parent may wish to discuss how they can best support their child at any point during the year. At this point, you may wish to open the Pupil Markbook with them, so that they can see the criteria which their child has already been taught and is struggling with, and to highlight their successes also.
